Seller had Triton boat for sale(buy it now)at an unusual low price with 2 days left in the auction. The auction only had 1 picture with a very appealing description-- immaculate, showroom condition, etc. On the auction it said do not bid until you contacted the seller by email first or the bid would be canceled. Shipping costs were very minimal as well, like $12.00. Right!! I checked out the other items for sale and he had several things in there. My curiosity got to me, so I emailed to see what the situation was. (Knowing something was up!) I received a response from the seller saying he was in Italy and just moved there with his family but the boat was in Atlanta, GA. He had it reserved for me until we came to an agreement. He would take care of everything including shipping through DAS, but I had to send him my ebay user ID, full name, and address. He would contact ebay to let them know that I was the winning bidder - in turn ebay would then contact me and we would wire the money under ebay's supervision. Yeah right!! I went back on ebay to look at the auction and there was NOTHING. All auctions mysteriously disappeared. I emailed him again and asked a few questions- he never really answered anything that I asked. Since I was so close to Atlanta, I wanted to physically see the boat first. But once again he sent my a few more pictures, which I don't think those pictures were the same boat that was in the auction. (I think I had seen those pictures somewhere else). However, when he sent me the boat pictures he made a mistake and sent me everything. He had pictures of ATV's, boats, motorcycles, clothes, shoes, Kubota tractors, etc. He is using other people's ebay user ID and posting bogus auctions hoping you will fall hook line and sinker. Of course I didn't fall for it- but a few have. Go to Community- then to discussion boards. Then go down to ebay motors and just read other situations like this.
