this is a guide to avoid scammers on ebay. there are a great many to be aware of. i would like to share an experiance with one thief in particular on a higher ticket item. back in april i did purchase a vehicle from this gentleman that was described as needing minor work. i purchased the vehicle sending the complete sum via paypal, this part is important. the "agent" for the seller described the work needed which was a replacement wiring harness and ECU. the work was quoted by the seller to be $900 and said he would guarantee the work and the car would be put running. the stealer....seller even sent photos of the ECU and harness that was to be replaced. i figured a week or 2 would be adequate for someone who emphatically claims he is a qualified technician. well, every 2 weeks or so we did get a new and creative excuse. we did make several requests for not only the completion of the work but for the title of a vehicle that was completely paid for! we did in fact make several requests for the title, after all the car was paid for- could this be unusual??? he sends a copy-what do you do with a copy???he has already been paid so why should he care??? anyway after 2 full months the seller requested an additional $600 for extraeneous work and parts that were needed to put the car in running condition. he then stated that the car would be ready that weekend. in hearing this we booked one of the shippers we usually use to bring the car, we request the car be given to the shipper with the title. the shipper picks the car up and delivers it to us 2 days later as scheduled! not only did the car NOT have a title, it did not have an ECU(just a photo of one), cranck sensors several other relevant and expensive items, and the car no where close to running. this was a VERY QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN in the art of ROBBERY and DECIET, but not to work on any car or treat a customer fairly! ONCE again a very polite request for a title, an agreement from the seller and several days to go by without one!with no other recourse we file a complaint with paypal, now paypal in a dispute does freeze the funding and put in escrow, so using paypal occaisionally does provide some protections. after a few more days alas a title shows up(the title was in someone elses name), but no computer, crank sensors, dme and several other parts that were paid for and are needed to put the car in running condition. basically we were screwed, by an opportunist who chose to rob us on a high ticket item. after some debate we decided not todisclose the name of this scammer( and it was quite a debate) but we would provide that info to anyone that contacts us- we have already provided that info th the distict attorney in florida. the bottom line is read the feedbacks deal with credible ebayers, use your credit card when possible for the additional protection that exceeds beyond the protections of paypal.send all questions and responsed through the ebay mail system, as ebay will be able to review all the correspondence when necessary. one thing can be said about this seller- he probably is still selling items that are on the previous page, before you linked this one.
