I have collected autographs for over 30 years. My first autograph was the Stones at Steel Pier in Atlantic City. I was hooked and made my way backstage throughout the 60's and 70s at the Electric Factory. I was able to meet John Lennon at a charity event for WFIL where for $30 he signed a Sgt. Pepper album, a flyer for the event and an 8x10. I still have the 8x10 but sold the other two (what a fool). I do buy from some ebay sellers who have proven over time to have what they advertise. I also buy fakes which I can tell you look very good. One seller had 3 Grapefruit books signed by the Lennons'. Why did I buy--I am on a mission to close down the people who sell this garbage. The autographs are so close it is only after carefull viewing that you may notice a "t" not crossed correctly. Sone helpfull hints.

LOOK AT THE INK. MOST 60S AND 70S AUTOGRAPHS COULD NOT BE SIGNED IN SHARPIE--FLAIR PEN MAYBE. MOST WERE SIGNED IN BALLPOINT.
ASK YOURSELF: COULD A JOHN LENNON CUT WITH A STARTING BID OF $200 BE REAL?
LOOK UP EXAMPLES WHICH WILL HELP YOU DETERMINE JUST HOW BAD THE FAKE IS. ONE GOOD REFERENCE SITE IS RRAUCTIONS.COM
With all this chances are you will still need the advice of a professional like the Rock and Roll Trust which, for a fee, will put your mind at ease.
