USPS Package Shipping Zones
Knowing the US USPS Postal Service shipping zone you are shipping to is important if you are shipping a package and the size of the package is over 1 cu. ft in volume. If the zone, based on the zip code you are shipping to, is zone 5 to zone 8, or above, you then must pay a Dimensional Rate. You are always zone 1 for this determination. Dimensional rates better reflect service to far-away destinations since those locations have air shippingExceptions: If you have a larger package with Length + Girth (distance around package), and it exceeds 84 inches, you pay a 20-lbs 'balloon rate' even for zones 1 to zones 4.
