Make big $ Garage saling!

• #1 rule never pay what they ask for at a garage sale haggle haggle haggle then haggle somemore!
• Auctions especially country ones, go and check out all the items for sale before the auction starts make a list your max bid and stick to it I've seen so many get excited and pay to much - my rule of thumb if you have a crowd that is over the top in bidding don't waste your time odds are that it will continue that way BUT! Knowledge is everything was at an auction last week, know the auctioneer and he thought that he'd be lucky to get $5000.00 out of the whole sale, his son put up some prints and art that was rolled up in the basement the opening bid was called for at a $50.00 start one guy shouts out in the crowd $15,000.00 the auctioneer asked him to be serious another bidder shouts out $19,000.00 well it sold for $27,000.00 and 2 more sold one for $12,000.00 and another for $23,000.00 it's all in what you know that the other guy doesn't!!!

Spring has sprung and Garage sale time is here! I have been buying on my saturday morning jaunts for years,  it's fun and easy especially with ebay's completed items to peruse for pricing and research. Old watches for a few dollars especially the windup ones Timex, swiss mades and more have bought for as low as .50 cents and sold for 50 times the purchase price! Old prints, classic concer Tee shirts, the list is endless. Check out the news paper for local sales, on-line for your area there are a lot of them listed there. Also Flea markets are a great buying source it's what you know and what the dealers don't!

Sample list of my purchases

1. Sansui speakers bought for ten dollars sold for $99.00
2. virbro Niagara massage at a church sale for $2.00 sold on ebay for 49.00
3. Old books check the printing year first edition condition etc these come up fairly frequently at estate sales especially when the relatives run it like a garage sale, bought one book for $1.00 on slavery by Booker T. Washington sold for $102.00 ebay. Old out of date magazine of special interest.
4. Photos of special places historical, character, train station etc these are usually cheap and plentiful check out ebay's list of for sales to see what is selling!
5. Video games new vintage etc I never buy inless I can triple my money. Vintage in box commodor 64 sold for $275.00 bought it for $15.00
6. Bought a Nevada guitar for $30.00 at garage sale sold it for $350.00
7. If you can buy in bulk which you come across occasionally, do it ! paid $50.00 for 10,000 cd roms got $700.00 selling them by the box on ebay
8. There was an old fella running a sale at his sons house who had moved out west he had Professional manager a soccer pc video game he had 150 of them they were in french he says these are in some foreign language you can have em all for $20.00 They were in french sold them on the french ebay site and to the Quebecers in Canada at an average of $6.00 each you do the math. plus a buck for handling fees
9. A great time to buy and this happens a lot is when they are closing up the garage sale you offer them pitence and will take it all away 2 weeks ago I did this got all the leftovers for $25.00 sold them in store and am listing some on ebay expect to make at least $400.00 on the $25.00 investment plus the community care is a lot richer for it! and I even got a tax receipt!!!!!
10. You gotta study and keep up to date what is hot and what is not. Knowledge is the key to any success bought a video robot from the 60's for $2.00 was missing back and no package but it still sold for $69.00 alas with package etc it would have been in the neiborhood of $600.00
11. The secret is to buy right The purchse price is key you can virtually sell anything if you buy it cheap enough. Most people want to get rid of the stuff your knowledge is the only thing that puts you above the seller look at ebay with the right buyer the sky is the limit! ( the grilled cheese sandwich story with Christ or the Vigin burned on the bread, Tsk, tsk tsk)
12. Get up early the early bird catches the worm! Be first and also be last to take advantage of all the sales that go on in the summer.

• Vintage clothing check out labels 60's chanell skirt and top can sell for $500.00 or more do research these you can usually pick up cheap
• cut glass, japanese occupied japan china etc, vintage electronics for collectors, wheel chairs can sometimes be picked up for a song these retail out at $500.00 to $2000.00
• The boomers are paying big money for the toys of their youth do some research G.I. Joe is a prime example
• Vintage T.V. games go for big bucks usually being sold off with the puzzles etc and often overlooked or discarded as worthless
• Vintage records check out ebay's completed listing to see what sells and foe how much?
• Videos and CD's can be bought for a song offer to buy them all and it seems every third or fourth tome you will get a great deal for them all in bulk!
• Prints oils art check out art in ebay and see what you and i would consider common or not worth anything you'll bve surprised! Bought a Brackman print for $5.00 3 nudes and sold it for $87.00
• The list goes on and on just buy right and do your research after and before you buy.
