Your Write Up, The Details About What Your Selling

Your write up or description is a very important part of your sale.   This is the space that you write all the little details about what you are selling.

List Brand
Number of Items
Size Measurements
Colors
Condition
Age
And any other information that will help describe your item.
Be sure to list any faults or defects or other imperfections.

Be very honest in your listing about what you’re selling, because it could come back and bite you later with a negative comment.

Before you continue with this remember to write in paragraphs.   There is nothing worse on the eyes than trying to read one single long paragraph.

It really does make a difference as you can tell by this example below.  And if your write up is written in one single long paragraph form, you may loose many potential buyers because they won’t take the time to read it.   I know I myself have done this several times.   If a seller can’t take the time to make things easy to read, then I don’t have the time to read it either.   So do keep that in mind always.

* Size 4T ~ Red Gap T-shirt with print of kitten. No stains or rips.

* Size 3T ~ Blue Denim Rider Shorts. Grass stain on hip. size runs large

* Size 4T ~ NWT Gymbo Short and Top from the Frogs line

* Size 4T ~ Pink Hans Her Way Top and shorts, no print, like new.

SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE EXAMPLES ABOVE. IT'S THE SAME SAMPLE. BUT IT REALLK MAKES A DIFFERENCE DOESN'T IT.

It really makes a difference when you’re reading. Always go back and read your listing as if you were a potential buyer. View it as a stranger would.

Look at the listings of other sellers, and see what they are doing? Look for positive things about the write up and the things that could be done better.   But never copy what another seller has written.   This could get you in big trouble, with some serious consequences for doing it.

One thing that I really hate to read, and makes the seller look very unprofessional, is when they write that they haven’t taken the time to clean the item.   Or that it’s dirty, or needs to be professionally cleaned.   This is a very poor selling technique.

The condition of your item should be in the best condition possible when you list it.   Take the time to clean it up, wash it or dry clean it.

By the way any clothing that is used MUST be clean and laundered or dry cleaned when it’s sold according to the manufactures directions.

If you sell used clothes do take the time to read ebays policy on this.
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/used-clothing.html
Because if your items are not laundered before shipping, then you violate ebay’s policy and the seller is responsible for this.

The only time an item should not be cleaned is when it’s an antique and it could cause damage to the item, or if you don’t know how to clean it properly without causing damage.   But google can also be your friend here to inform you how to clean it properly without causing damage.

However if you don’t take the time to clean a vintage glass figuring, that is just lazy and makes the seller look poorly.   So use your head on this one if your dealing with an antique.

But also be honest in your listing, and state it wasn’t cleaned first and the reason it wasn’t cleaned.    Otherwise there is no excuse for not taking the time to clean something prior to taking pictures and listing it.

If you ever have questions about ebay’s policy you can usually find them in the HELP pages and looking through the A-Z index.

If all else fails contact live help.   To do this, go to the ebay home page and the link for live help will be in the upper right hand corner of the page.

Hope this has helped you out in some small way.
