Your Personal Fragrance and How To Choose

Are you like me and have a dresser top completely covered with so many bottles of perfume or cologne its not even funny? Trying to decide which fragrance to wear each day is like searching for the answer to world peace or solving an intricate chemiaround here. Of course, the fragrance industry is my business so one would expect me to be ready to explode at the seams with fragrances galore!

But what about the average Joe or Jane? What do you do when its time to pick your scent of the day? Do you pick a new scent each day? Or do you stick with one or two of your favorites?

I find that the latter seems to be the best choice. Lately I am have been trying to stick with one or two and I only change my fragrance every few weeks or so. Pick a fragrance that is both suitable for the setting that you are going to be in most of the time. Also sticking with one or two fragrances gives people something to remember and associate you with. You also want your significant other to know when you have walked into the room, because they recognize your scent. There is just something so sexy about being able to do that!

If you have a job where you are around a lot of people each day, reach for that Chanel No. 22 or a Bobbi Brown Baby instead of the heady yet tantalizing Ambra de Nepal by i Profumi de Firenze.  Both fragrances are very gentle and soothing, and the Chanel No. 22 has a certain baby powder appeal that I find to be quite wonderful and suitable for "the job." Heading for a day at the beach or just a day of shopping? Then drizzle on some Karma by Lush (we call it Karma Kaze) or the ever so popular Pink Sugar by Aquolina (my goodness this smells so good!) Perhaps even the Honey and Propolis by L'Occitane. A late lunch with that sexy guy from Apartment B? Grab yourself some of L'Occitane's The Vert or my standby Bath and Body Works' Black Raspberry Vanilla. Dinner date with the possibilities of a steamy night cap later? Then reach for that ZAJA Provocative No.2 or Lancome's 2000 Et Une Rose. Whatever you choose, make sure that during the day your fragrance is not too heady, but appropriate for your surroundings. Nighttime fragrances can be a little heavier but not overpowering.

Guys, a woman just loves a man who smells clean, fresh and delicious. Being clean shaven and in coordinating attire helps too (including clean socks and boxers and no mechanical oil underneath the fingernails;) Nothing turns a girl on more than a man in some nice fitting jeans and a well tailored sweater wearing Jean Paul Gaultier, or Axe Tsunami.  Axe Snakepeel sure does get my motor revving too! Nautica for men is a definite winner. And if you have not tried Very Sexy for men by Victoria's Secret then you are missing out! I find that fragrances for guys can go from day or night without a problem (you guys have all the luck!!) so keep it simple. Egyptian Musk and Dragon's Blood are a few good choices as well, and if you are fond of Patchouli, Wood Coffee by Commes des Garcons is absolutely fantastic! I am not a patchouli lover, but this fragrance is the best fragrance containing patchouli that I have gotten my hands on.

Remember, never rub fragrance behind your ears, your body chemistry makes it funky. Pure oils are the best way to go when picking a fragrance in my opinion. No alcohol dilution, no spraying followed by stinging eyes and wheezing up a lung from the fumes. Just pure concentrated fragrance that will last...and last.

All of the fragrances recommended here can be found in my Ebay store by the way if you would like to have a look.

I hope this guide was helpful to somebody out there, and thank you so much for reading it!
