You don't need more traffic. Target Your Advertising

YES, you heard me right. You don't need more traffic. Most of the time people waste money on advertising, drive traffic to their sites and still get no traffic. I have done this so many times, and spent a little fortune on this.

Most important thing when you advertise is WHO IS YOUR TARGET CUSTOMER. You have to know exactly who is your target customer. In EBay it's little difficult. You must match your headline (title ) keywords. Which is making this more difficult. Let me try to create the example. From Weight Loss.

Ok, now look, if you are single mom, then you definately look at the ad where it says single Mom, Two reasons, It targets you, plus it has attention in it. It will make single moms to  look at this ad, plus others, because people are curious, and also because it looks like you are trying to say something important. Now it doesn't have to be saying Single moms, it can say "attention women over 40 weight loss truth."

Do you get the point? You see this way, you are maybe getting less traffic, but this traffic is more targeted, and also if your salescopy is good then you are most likely to make a sale. I had one auction getting 1500 views and no buyers. Why because I went to the area where there was lot of traffic, I got lot of traffic, but I was way off, doesn't matter how much it costs I was not on target.  Why I made this mistake was that I got frustrated because I wasn't getting any traffic.

Now, your traffic may be more targeted, but you are still not selling. People hate to sell, and and people also hate to be sold.

I am selling information here, why, because if it was so challenging for me to figure out what's going on, then there is lot more people who have the same problem. So I decided to be one more person delivering the message. And while I studied, I started to realize something. When people hate selling they go online and think this will be easier. No it's not.

You still have customers who hate to be sold. Your product only is not enough to make a sale, I don't care how pretty your site is and how much you spent on this. I don't care what auction template you are using. Only thing I care is what can you do for me.

So only way you can start selling your product is, you need to learn how people buy. Let me say this again. YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW PEOPLE BUY.

When I look for something, and for example  find somebody who did their work, and spent money on advertising, I open it up, just to find out that their website takes about one minute to upload, then it's impossible to find what I was looking for. So I leave. Now when you are doing Pay-Per-Click advertising, it can be very expensive. I have paid $1.50 for click, and didn't get any customers.

I will give you example now about my auction page. I target EBay sellers, because my product is for them. So when you open my auction listing it says "How to turn prospects into buyers"....

Now, two reasons for this, first it will get their attention, second it will tell them right away about the benefit they will get from this listing.

It's also very important that when you choose your product, you need to look for two things. It's not enough that people need this, they must want this also. This will be your job to explain them Why they must buy your product.

People like to do just the bare minimum to get by, They do this at work, they do this everywhere. Only people who are successful are the ones who willing to do what unsuccessful people are unwilling to do.

I can't explain everything here, but I will give the short list what you need to look for when you writing your sales letter.

These methods don't work for every product. But they can work for most services, and lot's of products.

I will give you  an example from weight loss.

When person is looking for weight loss, they are not really looking for your pills. They are looking for a product what will help them to lose, love handles, double chin, you name it. They don't really care how your product looks like, who or where it's made, and how long you have been in business. This is all secondary for them. They are looking for a solution to their problem.

So you will put your headline across the top. "Lose those unwanted love handles in three months"

Now, you will keep going how this problem is embarrassing and etc. How they have to keep buying new clothes, they can't go out, and they just feel miserable. You will keep going about everything and anything what comes to your mind. And do it like it's conversation. You are telling me about the problem, which I already know I have, you keep going till I feel like crap, now , when you think you have said everything and anything about this problem, You will go on to say, But listen, I have some really good news for you. I have solution for your problem, it will take care of your problems talk about problems again, and provide solution. Tell what  your product does, how it will affect them, think about every possible concern they may have, and answer this in your letter. If you know your product, and already know what's your customers questions are, answer them right there. All of them. One CAUTION, don't make claims you can't cover.

And then most important thing, it's so obvious that nobody does that. ASK FOR MONEY. I know it should be common sense, but. It doesn't cost you more to write couple of extra lines to the end. Exactly explaining how they can now go pay for it, and how they will receive their item.

So next time you advertise, think about it, only thing what really matters is how much you are selling. I much rather have 5 people coming to my store, and 4 of them will buy from me, than waste my money on advertising get 100 people thru my store, and make no sales. And even if you get more people to buy your products, then look at the numbers, how much you spent to make those sales. Be very careful how you spend your money.

Hope you have learned something here. Just thought to share my ideas with maybe newbies and people who are getting desperate and frustrated. I know how fast I was blowing my money in wrong places. Don't make same mistakes.
