I never thought I would do my yoga routine with an instructor on a DVD, until I was unable to afford a gym or yoga studio membership. Fortunitely I discovered a few yoga DVDs that are well produced and the instructors are so effective the routines are almost as good as going to a class. Marlon Bracia is the instructor on several yoga DVDs "yoga for absolute begginers" and "yoga for feeling stronger everyday" Each of Marlon Bracia's DVDs include around four varied routines, including a more challenging routine to work up to. She also includes wonderful and easy to understand yoga breathing instruction.
I also recommend any Yoga (or Pilates) DVD from the Gaiam Label. My personal favorite is the Balance Ball DVD- it is excellent!!
An additional advantage is that you can do the routine anytime of day or night- I like to do my routine before bed. A few tips for an in home yoga routine:
* watch the DVD closely two or three times before trying the routine.
* If the DVD includes a section on proper breathing watch and practice a several times
* use a yoga matt
* make sure to clear plenty of space and that the TV is visible from several angles.
* Make sure there is wall space nearby for support or yoga postures that require use of a wall.
