This is a continuation of Yo Yo Fabric Blocks ~ Fun Creative Ideals ~ Part 1. It is amazing to see the many different ways (new and old) people have used this block. Feel free to start at Part 1 of my yo yo guides. Yo Yo Fabric Blocks ~ Fun Creative Ideals ~ Part 1
All pictures used with the seller's permission. Without their generosity, these guides would not be effective.
# 7: Mini Yo Yo American Flag. This flag (created by the seller's mother) only measures 11 1/4" x 16" when completed. It is made with 70 yo yos! The red and white stripes are made from solid fabric and the blue fabric as tiny white stars. Each yo yo measures 1 1/2" " in diameter. # 8: Yo Yo Centerpiece/Placemat, measures 12" x 17" and is made up of 70 yo yo's, each measuring 1 5/8" in diameter. Solid green and red print yo yo were used. Courtesy of ebay seller: bluelilies
# 9: Yo Yo Button Pillow. This pillow measures 12" x 16". Each yo yo has a button sewn on the inside. The yo yos were a vintage project that was never finished. I sewed them onto a new piece of blue material and added the chenille borders. It was made for a charity Chinese Auction and I remember that it took a lot longer sewing the buttons on, that I had anticipated!
# 10: Vintage Purple Yo Yo Vest. Below is a vintage vest made of purple yo yo's. It is completely handmade. Each yo yo measures 1" in diameter. Picture courtesy of ebay seller: nmarliz
#11: Unique 1930's Feed Sack Yo Yo Vest and Skirt. This is a rather unique, vintage, yo yo vest and skirt. I have seem dresses made from yo yos and had to wonder if the yo yos were intended for the dress or made with part of a yo yo coverlet. Judging from the pictures on this one, I would say it was made to be a dress. It has that interesting 1930's green fabric made into a yo yo design on the bottom of the skirt and the bottom of the vest. The yo yo's measure 1" in diameter and the skirt is 29" at the waist and 31" long. Picture courtesy of ebay seller: froggreenefrog.
# 12: Vintage Yo Yo Rag Doll. Unlike the clowns and duck, we saw in Part 1 (# 6), this is a yo yo rag doll with cloth feet, hands and head. There is embroidery for the facial features and a cute little pink ribbon in her hair! She stands 17" tall. Picture courtesy of ebay seller: mrs.toad.
