I've been watching another Yurman scam unfold on eBay. This person has been listing the same two types of Yurman earrings: one diamond and topaz, the other diamond and onyx, over and over and over again. He does have positive feedback, although only as a buyer, and of very inexpensive items. No Paypal, of course.
Here's the scam: each auction length gets shorter. At the end he was down to 18 hours from posting to auction end. This was so he could get his money before the negative feedback came rolling in. And it's started now, three weeks after the first auction ended.
Please, don't buy from anyone who doesn't accept payment through Paypal. If someone says they take Paypal, then do not let you pay through it, alert eBay and DON'T send them any money. Watch out for brand-new Yurman sellers. Even if someone has positive feedback, look at the feedback. Some scammers buy a few very inexpensive items just to establish a reputation, then start their scam by offering pieces at unbelievable prices. And when a seller keeps the ID of the bidders private, it's usually so someone who has caught onto him can't warn them.
And don't bid on items from people with these criteria who list Yurman for such low prices. The opening bid, for earrings worth $1000 to $1500, was $102.99. That's just not credible.
Update: as I suspected, that person now has 4 negative ratings, one after the other. In a truly disgusting move, he let the first negative feedback stand by claiming he had 'a death in the family in England' and that's why he didn't ship the earrings. He kept listing his items over and over again even after that first negative rating, each with only 18 hours auction time.
Now that more people are waking up to this thief and are calling him on it, he's taken his feedback private. According to my figures, this guy has stolen more than $3,000 from eBay members. His next step will be to withdraw his membership so he'll be outside eBay's reach, limited as it is.
