Sometimes I think users have forgotten the basics of eBay.

And the basics are not selling options nor how to get a bargain etc., the basics are about people, it is about how to behave one with each other in this global community.

Let me remind you the basics of eBay
 - We believe people are basically good.
 - We believe everyone has something to contribute.
 - We believe that an honest, open environment can bring out the best in people.
 - We recognize and respect everyone as a unique individual.
 - We encourage you to treat others the way you want to be treated.

Sounds familiar?  How many of us remember those principles?
I’ll point out a specific issue which is: telling your partner the true and all the true about an item.

Let’s say for example that you sell a vintage camera. You inspected it and found some paint loss, some scratches, a small dent and a shutter speed inaccuracy in one of its settings.
What should you publish and how to do so?
My recommendation is to publish it ALL, don’t miss any of it. Write down all the defects you found, make macro photos of the faults and show it in your listing. Faults should not be the main course of your description but it must appear clearly and with the same importance as other specifications.
Showing all data will increase the confident in you as a seller, it will make you more reliable, it will save you unpleasant situation with an un-happy buyer and it will increase your returning customers traffic. Don’t underestimate the importance of each fault to your buyers. Collectors from all over the world care about each and every scratch and dent, they search for the perfect item and as such they need to have all data in order to make a buying decision.
If you are honest and show all the information you have of an item, the chances are you’ll end the auction with a much higher price. The sky is the limit for collectors and they need full information of your item to decide on this limit.
Think of yourself when you list an item. Think of how unhappy you will be if you got an item and found some faults were not mentioned or mentioned in a way you couldn’t see or understand. Think of how much time and trouble you will invest in communication, dispute etc, and eventually be left with a very bitter taste of this auction and seller. Think of the possible negative FB you’re about to receive, think of the damage this will cause your reputation and future clients.
Do you want this to happen with your listings?  Of course you don’t !

So from now on, a minute before you push the List Your Item button, STOP and put yourself in the shoes of your clients. Evaluate your listing from your buyer’s side and make necessary changes to reflect the true condition of the item, to reflect clear and honest terms and conditions.

Learn how to give, give whenever you can as eventually it will return to you and you’ll benefit a lot .
Yes we can eBay and I’m sure anyone can improve, it takes nothing to think positive and to honor your eBay partners, whether a buyer or a seller.

Have fun and enjoy your eBay experience
