Well most of us on eBay that sell want to drive buyers to our auctions or stores and are not sure how. We can of course pay eBay for some of the traffic hits through a number of sponsored programs they offer. Notice on the right side of these guides that some ads appear? Well these are paid placements and are targeted to the Tags or the guides category that you select when you submit the article.
Now we all know that the more traffic we get the better the chance to make sales, so this is a great way to increase your volume, fast. Just last week I began to realize the importance of this new form of promotion and started to knock out a number of articles. For me writing is easy since I am also the founder of the International Press Association.
IPA is a member based organization made up of photographers and journalists from all over the world. I am not sure if I included a link if it would be considered shameless "Self Promotion", so in thee event it would be considered just that, I won't. If you are interested in learning more about belonging to IPA do a web search for our organization or visit my "About Me" page on ebay to get a link to our site.
But now back to this article. I began to write last week and my standing as a Reviewer was in the top 5,000. Well if you look now you will see my ranking has climbed quite a bit and I hope to soon be in the top 10 of all eBay Reviewers.
Knowing how eBay works and once the word gets out about this new feature I am sure all of you will be writing some sort of Review or Guide about anything from your poor or good experiences on eBay to your reviews of products you love or hate.
Writing a Review or Guide is really quite easy to do if you have some writing skills. I like to write it in a word processing program so I can check my spelling and correct it there then simply copy and paste it into the eBay page.
One tip however in making the article format properly on the page. Ebay does not seem to allow a lot of HTML tags, so you won't be able to do the article in one of your web layout programs and copy the code and paste it in. Also the way it is set up now, eBay does not recognize a line or paragraph break so you must go in and manually put them in where you need them.
The code for a line break is a bracket with a "br" in between (without the quotes). The brackets you will use are on your keyboard and are the caps for a comma and a period. You will see them there and the left bracket you will use is the capital ", comma" key and the right bracket is the capital " . period" key. I can't actually show the break or even the tag here because it will of course be seen as a real break and won't be allowed.
This BR tag will take your text and drop it to a new line. If you want to skip a line (paragraph break) then use two of the BR tags to do that. The BR can be upper or lower case and is not case sensitive.
If you want to put in an underline you can and I like to use the equal sign for that. It gives me a nice double line like this
==============
Remember to use your BR tags otherwise the entire article will be one unreadable mess.
Hope this little article will motivate you to begin writing your own Reviews and Guides and I welcome the competition for the number one spot :-)
Good writing and continued success on eBay.
