Wrestling Belts - Collecting Great Wrestling Belts

Professional wrestling has millions of fans around the world, with wrestling organizations like the WWE making it a widely popular sport and source of non-stop entertainment. Wrestlers like The Rock, The Undertaker, and Kurt Angle are making and maintaining modern fans, just like Randy "Macho Man" Savage and Hulk Hogan did in the 1980s and early 1990s.

When professional wrestlers compete, they fight to ultimately win the title championship, and the elaborately designed plated belt that comes with that title. Replicas of these wrestling belts are popular as well, especially when wrestling favorites win big championships. Each belt version is typically associated with the particular wrestler that one that specific championship, which makes them especially favored by collectors.

The process of collecting has actually become very detailed, and can be quite expensive at times. The cost of the belt depends on its authenticity, design, and wrestler or fight associated with the belt. There are replicas and originals, but most are copies of the championship belt. As opposed to boxing championship belts, wrestling belts are much more elaborate and specialized.

Wrestling belts are usually made of leather or simulated leather straps, with metal plates several inches wide as the center plate. The 1980s produced some of the most sought-after wrestling championship belts. Manufacturers like Reggie Parks and Dave Millican create most of the belts. Both of these makers' belts are known for pulling big sums at auction.
