There are alot of good coin investments and bad coin investments out there.  Though I cannot tell you which ones will be good investments (only the coinprofits website can tell you this), I can tell you which ones are the bad ones so that you can avoid them when you see them.

There are 5 bad coin investments that I feel are bad to the point where you can never recover your money.  These were also listed in the "How to Buy, Sell, and Invest in Rare Coins" book sold by the coinprofits website.

The first is HSN.  When you see the Home Shopping Network, you can always expect to be offered coin set(s) after coin set(s).  They look very tempting, but their prices are always sky high.  Nearly all of them are priced above market value.  The problem with this is;  it could be priced below book value, but still be way above market value.  So becareful not to buy anything they offer.

There are some companies that sell "fake" coins.  I will not name the companies because of legal reasons (there are 2 companies in particular).  But, they sell coins that are not minted by the U.S. Mint.  Their coins seem nice.  Theres nothing to hate about their coins.  But reading the fine print, you can see that alot of their coins are either gold plated or silver plated with a cheap core.  They seem affordable, but the gold plating or silver plating couldnt have costed more then 2 cents each.  Other companies just sell real coins that were minted by the U.S. Mint, but jack up their prices 4-5 times the real market value.  Look up your market values before buying.

Never buy FDC's.  First Day Covers are offered by the U.S. Mint, but they never seem to go up in value. I have noticed alot of them going down in value even though the U.S. Mint sells out.  Just stay away from them because you could easily get the same coins from the mint.  They just wouldnt have the FDC designation.  Furthermore, FDC's are difficult to grade with the FDC attribute.  I have seen PCGS designate that attribute, but they dont seem to sell that great even with PCGS backing them up.

Never buy problem coins or altered coins.  These never go up in value.  Even if they did go up in value, their "problem free" twins (talking about the same coin but without the problems) have probably sky rocketed in value.  These problem coins include, but are not limited to:  cleaned coins, artificially toned coins, environmentally damaged coins, holed coins, painted coins, gold plated coins, copper plated coins, scratched coins, coins with corrossion, rusty coins, replated coins, pitted coins, doctored coins, bent coins, whizzed coins, culls, filler coins, or coins that were graded by BS grading companies.

These conclude some of the worst coin investments ever.  I know there maybe a couple more, but these are by far the worst of the worst.  Some of the best coin investments are illustrated in the "How to Buy, Sell, and Invest in Rare Coins" ebook that's sold on the coinprofits website.  I believe they are the only one authorized to sell that book.  I tried looking on Ebay, Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and Borders, but nobody stocks it.  The only way is by going to the actual CoinProfits website.
