Several designers have heeded the call of women bored by ill-fitting, boxy polos and pleated khaki shorts...if you haven't explored women's golf wear lately, check these out:
Jamie Sadock--'corrosion of confirmity' is the rallying cry! This 'lifestyle' designer has brought a rock-n-roll sensibility to country clubs and resorts all over the world. Her golf clothing is known for flourishes such as hardware, beading and embroidery, normally found in high-end designer clothing.
Tail--cheeky name, cool clothing...co-founded by a woman designer fed up with wearing tennis whites. Her muse was a denim tennis skirt w/embroidered hearts and the rest is history. Tail has started to use more high-tech fabrics that help to manage moisture as well as offer sun protection.
Iconic Sport--founded by a former NASA rocket scientist and multi-sport athlete. She was frustrated by the lack of high tech fabrics and fit details needed specifically for golf, such as armholes that don't impede the swing. Her unique prints (such as 'Dead Aim') are retro-inspired and very Orla Kiely-esque. Fabrics are ultra-high tech, offering such functions as moisture reduction, sun protection and a "microbe shield" that gives fabrics a magnetic charge to attract and kill odor-causing bacteria. May the force be with us!
