Purely designed & made by Nova Photography, this one-touch lock type remote control switch can be connected to the remote control socket of the camera. It enables you to release the shutter from up to 20 meter (64 feet) away from the camera, eliminating camera shake problems. Handy for taking pictures of subjects that are difficult to approach, or to minimize vibration for close-ups and time exposure.
Surprisingly, not all cameras exist that work with any kind of remote switch (or named as remote release, cable switch or cable release.), either mechanical or electronic. Please always use a remote switch to minimize vibrations whenever you are shooting scenics with your camera on a tripod.
If you want to improve the technical quality of your phonographs, the very first step is to buy a well-made tripod and use it every time you take a picture. Professional nature photographers shoot every frame possible with their cameras firmly mounted on a tripod.
To further minimize vibrations, we suggest you use mirror lockup if possible. Inside every 35mm camera is a mirror that must swing up out of the way for each exposure. That is, the mirror must snap out of the place instantly every time the shutter is tripped. This movement , and the "slap" as the mirror hits against the camera's pentaprism finder, creates vibrations which in turn lead to unsharp photographs. A mirror lockup provision is a means of avoiding this. it allows you to raise the mirror out of the light path, once you have composed and set your exposure. After that, the only moving part inside the camera is the shutter curtain, which rarely causes vibration problem. The most vibration-prone shutter speeds on all cameras are 1/8 sec. to 1/15 sec. Using a longer-focal-length lens, 200mm or longer, magnifies the image and obviously magnifies any problem at these speed. You can only use a mirror lockup id your camera is mounted on a tripod, ad once the mirror is up, you can non no longer see through the lens. If your camera happens to have a mirror lockup provision then by all means use it. If you do not have a mirror lockup, do not worry. Just watch your shutter speeds with long lens.
Control of the technical side of photography frees you to focus your energy and drive on your unique vision. The photographic process should be deliberate and studied. After all, the camera itself does not take any pictures. You, the person behind the camera, do this job.
