WHY BUYING VINTAGE IS RECESSION SAVVY
Buying vintage can be one of the most recession savvy things to do in an economic slump. Lately my potential buyers have been more cautious when buying vintage, they ask more questions, want more details, which is a good thing- we all should think more before we buy! However, I've noticed this undertone of.. well... grumpiness about buying. I think that this is a direct result of the current economic climate- people are are just feeling bummed about parting with their well earned money. I am the same way these days, and wanted to let you know why I am not only a seller of vintage, but a devout buyer as well, and mostly why buying vintage is recession savvy!
Buying vintage can be a great bargain!
You can get a quality, stylish piece for just a fraction of the cost when you buy vintage. eBay affords the shopper to browse around the world for amazing vintage that we can win for just the right bid! The Advanced search tool will allow you to search for item specifically in your price- this is a great way to practically "steal" that bargain!
Buying vintage is recycling!
The great thing about vintage is that it is totally okay to buy it wear it ,and turn right around and resell it! No yard sale or consignment necessary! Recycle and resell your vintage piece on eBay and have global exposure! Not only that, with the Buy it Now option you can name your price or send it to auction and let the bids roll in!
Buying vintage is an investment!
There are some pieces that no matter what- never go out of style, such as the Yves Saint Laurent black pumps that I have in the boutique section of of my store. They will always be elegant, always be stylish, and will always make a statement. These pieces are investments because they are classics - their value goes up over time. There also will never be anymore authentic 40s or 50s dresses, 60s hippie jeans, or 80s acid wash or concert Ts. Great vintage designer pieces like Chanel, Gucci, Pucci, Halston, YSL, become more and valuable as time goes by.
Buying classic vintage is money well spent!
Buying vintage helps our neighbor!
When you buy vintage, you may be purchasing from a mom who is staying at home to raise her children, a dad who lost his job, a retiree supplementing their income or a college student just trying to get by. When you buy vintage, you are spending your well earned money on something that has potential to continually perpetuate happiness & income plus help your neighbor! For instance, vintage sellers buy their vintage from somewhere~ let's say estate sales, thrift stores, Goodwill, Salvation Army- then turn around and sell to you- now you just helped out several people by making this purchase, as well as the fact that you can take your purchase, wear it, enjoy it, and then turn around, sell the piece or donate it and start the process all over again! eBay also gives sellers the opportunity to donate a portion or all of their proceeds to a non profit of their choice. Please look for the non profit icon next to the listing title and share the love! Because sharing the love helps us all feel good and put things into perspective when we are all so focused on the economy.
