1st off a lot of great movies are not yet available on DVD and Blu Ray.

For those of us who like tight knit plots, and great characterization and little less computer graphics, outright bloody gore, high sexual content bordering if not outright porn and bad language - classic films offer great entertainment value for the dollar.

Even if the classic films you love are on DVD they tend to be very expensive. We have a great TV- and I found with a quality VCR- yes its like having a movie theatre in our home.

You can buy VCR's and VHS tapes for great prices on e bay- and bring some great entertainment into your home for you and/your loved ones. Even if you have DVD's ( which we do) it's nice to have both- and honestly yes I miss some aspects of the DVD's ( Chapter access etc) I find the picture quality of the VHS with a good VCR and TV very high.
