Why are magic tricks non-returnable?

Magic-by-Mail are often asked why a magic trick is non-returnable if the buyer does not like it. The simple answer is that when you buy a magic trick you are also buying a secret. That secret cannot be returned and is now known to the buyer forever. The secret is also the most important part of what you are buying, any coins, cards or other props you receive are the means with which to utilize that secret. The two go hand in hand, without the secret you can't perform the trick, and without the props the secret is often useless.

Another reason why tricks are non-returnable is to prevent unscrupulous buyers from receiving an item, copying it and returning the original, thus effectively getting the item for nothing. We know this goes on because there are items exclusive to magic by mail that we have invented and are the exclusive seller of, yet copies of them have been offered for sale by others - We always get these listings removed for breach of our intellectual property right.

Our advice when buying magic tricks is to ask the seller any questions you have about the item before buying it. Know what you want and know what you are bidding on.
