My guinea pig does all sorts of cool things and is really fun to watch! He even learned a trick. When I put one of his favorite things up in the air, he stands up on his hind legs to reach it.
We put him out in the hallway, shut all the doors, and we even built a tunnel for him out of legos. That's for his exercise. We take him out in the front yard, too! He only does that when it's a certain temperature outside. They are very sensitive to temperature changes.
He has some treats we give him once a day. His favorite produce is romaine lettuce because that was his first taste of food after he was weaned. We feed him: lettuce, parsley, kale, carrots, apples, pellets, and timothy hay.
He lives in my room, in his cage. He likes to hide under stuff. He is kind of shy when you try to pick him up. He is kind of brave at the same time! He walked right up to a cat and the CAT ran away! You have to be very careful when you pick them up. They are very fragile and breakable. You can't pet them too hard since they will get bruised under their skin.
He makes lots of sounds! This is what he sounds like. WOOP WOOP WOOP and WEEP WEEP WEEP and he chortles, purrs, and coos, too!
Guinea pigs love to listen to music! They also like bright colors. I hum and sing to him and sometimes I leave the radio on for him. He likes to chew on things and even fingers but it doesn't hurt unless he clamps down too hard!
Guinea pigs are easy to take care of, easy to name, and they basically eat the same produce we eat!
My guinea pig is 10 weeks old, he is brown and white. His breed is American Dutch and his name is S'mores. His fur is short and he has a pink ear and a brown back foot. I do not recommend the long- haired guinea pigs since they slip out of children's hands too easily.
I LOVE MY GUINEA PIG! Guinea pig's are a great first pet!
