I have had several people ask me why I write guides on eBay.  The simplest answer is that I like to share my knowledge with others.  In truth, there is more to it than just sharing my knowledge with others.  I have found that if you write a guide or a review, than you build up more of a "presence on eBay".  That is important as it promotes you and what you sell when you write a guide concerning an item you sell on eBay.  My eBay store specializes in the Fiber craft field, and caters to the spinner, weaver, knitter, crocheter, felter, and quilter.
    Thus I write my guides and reviews to be helpful to my customers.  If you notice on the left hand side of the category pages it will list  a few categories of guides for you to click on.  Hopefully your guide will be featured.  Also when you click on a guide, eBay does feature items you are selling in the right hand column of the guide, if your items match the category you have chosen for your guide.  Will you get more sales if you write a guide or a review?  I can't really answer that, but I feel that my writing guides has increased my sales on eBay. 

I know this hasn't answered every reason for writing guides on eBay, but they are my reasons for writing guides.
