Mystery auctions on eBay can be very lucrative for eBay buyers.  A lot of sellers have inventory that they cannot move for a profit on ebay by selling it piece by piece because the listing fees would eat up the profit and/or the shipping cost would be too high to justify the purchase.  So, a seller will group all these odds and ends and put them up for grabs in a Mystery Auction.
