Why I love Baby Bjorn Infant Carriers

I enjoy wearing my baby when we go for walks, go shopping, etc. It's so much easier and more comfortable than carting around a bulky and heavy carseat carrier. However, the carrier I had been using wasn't as comfortable as I would have liked. So I recently bought a Baby Bjorn Active Carrier for our 3-month old daughter, and I am sooo glad I did. I had been using a Snugli that my sister had given us, but it just isn't that comfortable or convenient. The straps that went from the front to the back are thin and dig into my side if I'm carrying my daughter around for longer than 5 minutes. In addition, it's not very easy to get the baby into and out of the carrier, especially if she happens to be sleeping. I also felt like the weight of my baby pulled the whole carrier down: I would start out with everything in position, but as I started walking, the straps across my back would slide up (even when they were cinched in tight to my body), and the carrier (and baby) would slide down in front. Because of this, I would change my posture to compensate, and my back always hurt after using the carrier for just a short time.

On the other hand, the Baby Bjorn's straps are wide and padded- no digging in there! The model I bought has the lumbar support, and I can't say enough good things about it. While there is still some sliding up in the back, it is negligible, and everything still remains comfortable and my back doesn't hurt, even when I've been carting my daughter around for several hours. It is also so much easier to get the baby into and out of, whether she's sleeping or not. The Baby Bjorn is also easy to adjust, which is important for us, since I'm only 5 foot 1 inch, and my husband is 6 foot 3 inches. Our daughter likes being so close to whichever of us is wearing her, and if she's awake, she enjoys facing outward and being able to see what's going on. (Both the Snugli and the Baby Bjorn have the feature where once the baby can hold up it's head, the carrier can be slightly altered to accomodate facing outward instead of inward. I think Baby Bjorn does a much better job of it, though.)  One thing (the only thing!) that I miss that the Snugli had: a pocket on the front. It was just the right size for my wallet and keys. The Baby Bjorn doesn't have any pockets, so I actually have to carry a purse or quit leaving the diaper bag in the car.

In addition, the Baby Bjorn just looks so sleek and stylish, and comes in a variety of colors and several different models and fabrics, so everyone can find one that will work for them. And when you're wearing your baby, you always get smiles and comments about what a cute baby you have- what parent can resist compliments about their offspring? Hint: To keep people from touching her hands (since we all know where babies love to put their hands), if she's facing outward (it doesn't seem to be as much of a problem if she's facing my chest), I'll have her hold one of my fingers in each of her hands. That way, her hands are occupied, and since my hands are right there, people are less likely to touch them.

Baby Bjorn makes some other great products as well- it's worth looking into if you're looking for quality baby products. They are an investment, but definitely worth it, in my opinion.

I hope you found this helpful.   :)
