My Cd skips when I play it on my computer.. Why?
If you buy a new cd, and it skips when played in your computer, it may not be defective at all. Often due to resources being used by your computer (some of which are hidden programs you may not even be aware are running, like anti-virus software), it causes your cd to hesitate when playing. The level of hesitation varies according to your cd rom drive speed, and also the software you're using to actually play the music.
What can you do?
Well the best thing is to play the music in your car, cd player, or most dvd players also play cds. You'll probably find it won't skip when inserted into these types of players. If it still skips in these devices, it is indeed defective. A good clean may resolve the issue.
I don't have an alternate way to play it. What can I do?
Your next best thing is to run as few other programs as possible. As every computer is differemt we can't get into how to accomplish this, but in most computers there is a tool which will show the amount of resources you are using. For example in my computer if I hit (alt-crtl-del) I get a huge list of resources running on my system. Try to shut down everything except the most essential, and see if that resolves the issue.
