The Southern Decorative Arts of the American South have long been undervalued. But now with eBay and broadcasts like the Antique Roadshow people are becoming much more aware of and interested in Southern pottery. Perhaps you have heard of Dave Drake or Dave the Slave. He was a slave whose pottery is highly collectable. Even though it was against the law in the antebellum South he had learned to read and write. He sometimes signed his pottery 'Dave' and on rare occasions he would write short poems on the sides of his jars and jugs along with the date. The are many other examples of beautiful pieces of pottery from many makers and areas of the South including North Carolina and Catawba Valley, South Carolina and Edgefield, Georgia and Crawford County, and Alabama and Sand Mountain just to name a few. I offer quality pieces of Southern Antique Pottery and Southern folk pottery on eBay from time to time under the user name of mudsweatandtears. Please search using my ebay name for current sale items or contact me through eBay or browse Southern Antique pottery with one of the links below. You may also see my website www.mudsweatandtears.com for many more examples. Thanks Mud Sweat And Tears Southern Antique Pottery.
