Meet Clyde the Camel ~ My Neighbor

Be careful ~ He spits when he laughs

Yep! Thats a real camel! His name is Clyde, and he is my neighbor! Clyde makes the most wonderful neighbor anyone could ever have. He is friendly, loving, and he listens to all my stories and jokes. He even laughs at my jokes! But like most camels, Clyde tends to spit, especially when he laughs. You dont want to stand too close when telling him a joke.

Clyde lives in and shares a huge pasture with two female camels named Bonnie & Crystal, and two buffalo; one male and one female. The female camels are a bit shy as well as the buffalo, but Clyde always strolls over to the fence to say hello when he sees me. Clyde can be as far as 50 yards away, and I can say, "Hey, Clyde! How's it goin'?" And here he comes, strolling over to the fence. As soon as he gets to the fence, Clyde will reach his face down to mine and nuzzles me as his way of saying hello.

Now, I dont see Clyde everyday, since he has a barn he sleeps in. So, if I've been away, or just havent seen Clyde in several days, he gets excited to see me. After all, I'm his favorite neighbor! When Clyde is done nuzzling and kissing me, he will smile real big and snort as if he is laughing. The snorting causes Clyde to spit, or sling slobber. By this time, I've learned to take a step back. Clyde also has very big teeth he shows when he smiles. I'm always telling Clyde he seriously needs to brush his teeth. He doesnt have bad breath, but his teeth look like they have fuzzy sweaters on them. Not exactly the prettiest teeth I've seen. But Clyde is still cute all the same.

Another cute feature about Clyde are his feet or hooves. Yes, Clyde has what is commonly referred to as camel toes. His feet are hairy like a hobbit, but he only has two toes on each foot, and in my personal opinion, he does have cute camel toes. See the picture below.

After Clyde and I have said our hellos, I stand there talking to him and tell him where I've been or what I've been doing. Clyde always seems to get excited when I tell him about eBay and some of the crazy auctions in the Bizarre category. Mostly because Clyde, himself, has been not only been in the bizarre category, but he also made the pulse! Item #9529142205. How did Clyde get in an eBay auction? I was selling a bag of his camel hair that he so graciously gave to me. But who in the world would buy camel hair? With a total of 12 bids, SnowFlowerRose outbid GoldenPalaceCasino for that camel hair with a winning bid of $46. Now thats some expensive camel hair!! It just goes to show that anyone can sell anything on eBay! Of course, 50% went to the charity, Personal Ponies Ltd.

Now, you're probably wondering how did I end up with a camel as a neighbor, and where the heck do I live? Well, I live in a rural area of the Ozark Mtns in Arkansas. Clyde belongs to my real neighbor who loves animals and lives on the other side of the huge pasture where Clyde hangs out. So, many of us have had undesirable, totally bizarre, or just plain ol' crazy neighbors, but I can assure you, Camels Make the Most Wonderful Neighbors! I'm proud to have Clyde as my neighbor!
