Dark Chocolate M&M's. Why did it take so long? Chocolate has been around for centuries, making its way from the Americas to Europe, where several processes perfected the rich sweet confection that makes us swoon.

Chocolate comes in many shades.  White chocolate might contain cocoa butter, but has no cocoa solids, so is not a true chocolate. Milk chocolate can range from the delicate and light Belgian chocolates that melt on your tongue, to the more robust Hershey's and all sorts in between. You could try 10 different brands and all would be a little different.

Dark chocolate has more cocoa solids, is slightly firmer and much darker than milk chocolate. What is different is.....epicatechin and other antioxidants found in dark chocolate only. Several medical studies that you can look up online show dark chocolate to be of tremendous benefit to health! Of course, you mut eat it in moderation, because of the high fat and calories, but since you will be eating chocolate anyway, choose dark, and eat healthier and guilt-free!

Last spring, M&M released the first dark chocolate M&M's ever! It was in conjunction with the final Star Wars movie. While they issued 72 different bags for collectors, most people bought them for taste! Remember all the reasons you loved M&Ms..small and fun to eat, don't melt in your hands or pockets, if you are obsessive compulsive, you can line them up, sort by colors etc....way more fun than a plain old bar of chocolate!

They seemed to only be sold in the larger cities, and within weeks, they were gone.  Except for some lucky eBayers who found some over the summer and sold them to eager buyers who had become addicted, or were buying as gifts for other addicts.

In late fall, M&M found some more and released some when the Star Wars video was released. By the end of the year, they were impossible t find outside of eBay.

Now M&M is releasing some once again, but without any promo attached. Again they are in scattered areas. and again they are for sale on eBay! Just be sure you get the FRESH ones, not ear old stock. The new ones come in purple bags.
