This is a list of who you should contact when you receive a fake item or suspect fraud. I have compiled this list based on personal experience. I realize some of this may duplicate my other guide, but there is additional information and this doesn't fully discuss things, just a basic quick list.
-
eBay- Report the item(s) so they know what is going on since you purchased them here and to help cover you when you report to other agencies. You can do this under your dispute console and/or report the item from the item details page (bottom of the page).
-
PayPal (or other payment source)- if you paid using PayPal, report to them and if other, report to the other. They should know as well and again, it helps you when you make reports to other agencies. You can do this from the resolution/dispute area.
-
Bank- if you used your bank account (which I don't recommend), contact your bank. If you used a credit card (I recommend for additional protection), then contact the bank or other issuing agency. You can probably do this from the bank website (I was able to click on the line with the purchase date/info and click dispute).
-
Postal Service- contact the United States Postal Service and if applicable, any additional postal services from other countries where the item originated from. usps/postalinspectors(with . and word fraud)/MailFraudComplaint (of course you need to add the needed things to get you there because eBay won't let me post that here).
-
Police- eBay has even said that you should report it to your local police and the local police for where the item originated. usacops (again add the additional stuff you need) to find local police departments in USA. Also give the police the following link info provided by eBay pages.ebay./help/confidence/isgw-fraud-ebays-role because it gives police information they may need.
-
IC3 (Internet Crime Complaint Center ran by the Federal Trade Commission/FBI)- ic3 (with gov) /complaint
-
Attorney General- for your state. You can google this by entering your state name and "attorney general" or looking at your state's official website for the link.
-
Original Manufacturer- let the company who is really supposed to be the manufacturer of the authentic items know. They will run investigations on their end and will help get fakes off the eBay site by working with VERO.
-
Better Business Bureau- bbb (with org) If you are having problems with eBay, PayPal, etc, you can try reporting issues to Better Business Bureau. I find that a lot of companies work a little harder and faster when you get BBB involved.
I hope that you don't need this list, but if you do, it is here for you. If you find this helpful in any way, please vote to reflect such. Read some of my other guides and look at guides/blogs of members here on eBay because you can learn so much. I have appreciated the time they took to help inform all of us.

Thank you for voting. If your vote meets our
