She is depicted as a beautiful maiden of sixteen years of age but more often depicted more full bodied than Green Tara. He right hand makes a varada mudra(gesture of gift-bestowing) symbolizing supreme generosity and with the thumb and ring finger of her left hand holds a branch of white lotus or utpala. She has dark blue hair and is adorned with divers precious ornaments. She has eyes also on the palm of her hands and soles of her feet each, making up seven eyes of Knowledge. These seven eyes stand for apparent preception of suffering. She sits straight and firm with her legs crossed in the diamond/vajra posture upon the circle of the moon. The practice of White Tara is basically performed to prolong life as well as for healing purpose.
