It was time to replace the old washer so we opted to go big and get the new front loaders from Whirlpool. We bought the second from the top model GHW9300PW washer and GGH9250PW gas dryer replacing an electric dryer. Total price out the door with pedestals  and 4 year ext. warranty was $2477.00 which is quite a bit for a laundry pair however I was expecting big utility savings. Be sure to buy the 15" pedestal to get the units as close to waist level as possible. ( crunchemus lower backumus / debilitating ) You'll be a hero with her for this guys.!!

At install, ( did it myself with a little help from a bud ) I took all utility readings so I could tell if these guys were all they were supposed to be and here are the results based on 14 loads per week:

• Water use, dropped a massive 40% from 15,000 gals a month to 9000. !!!
• Power, no change even though I removed 220 volt dryer and I'm still scratching my head on that one.
• Gas, up about $5.00 a month

And we had one service call because the soap drawer was leaking bleach, so they replaced it. ( sent us a new one via UPS )

Are the clothes cleaner ? Can't say, can't tell.

Op / ed: Based on these numbers I doubt I will see a payback in the life expectancy of the units however the units did dispel a couple of myths, our whites did not turn yellow from the gas dryer and the washer doesn't hold stinky water as predicted. I also recomend the warranty because the units are complex plus you're mixing water with electronics. One other thing, we were ASSURED by the seller that the washer door is reversible as needed for install, NOT! You have to buy a kit. ($90.00 retail) ( after I took the door off !) Ended up not buying kit and living with it as is.
