In the shamanistic native cultures of the world there is a strong belief in the influence of animals. Animals may be totems or guiding forces in your life.  There is also a belief that if you see a certain creature; it is a sign that you need to tend to that aspect in your life. Of course, in order to do that, you must know what aspect is lacking or causing discordance.
