When to Rate a Seller 5*'s

Providing Fair Feed Back & Detailed Seller Rating (DSR) after you receive your item(s).  Ebay has recently made some changes to the Feed Back scores; Sellers can no longer leave Neutral or Negative Feed Back for buyers.  However, Buyers can leave them for Sellers.  For the Postive Feed Back Percentage Ebay divides the Positives by the Positives + Neutrals + Negatives.  For myself it has to be very extreme circumstances for me to issue a Negative. 

To give all 5's for DSR....Did the seller correctly describe the item you have now received?  Did they provide all the information that you needed?  Does it match the picture?  If your item is a match in these areas then you give 5*'s Very Accurate for Item as Described.

Did your Seller email an invoice, received payment notification, shipping information and answer any of your emails in a reasonable time (24-48 hours).  Did they provide the information in a professional friendly manner?  If your seller provided all of these then you would give 5*'s  Very Satisfied.

The rating for shipping is based on when the Seller shipped the item not how long it took to reach you.  If they shipped within 24 hours (unless it was a weekend or holiday weekend).  Did they ship the next eligible shipping day if you had paid on a non shipping day?  Then you should provide 5*'s for Shipped Quickly.  Sometimes your parcels can take longer than the suggested shipping times due to Customs or Postal Inspectors when they enter into your country.  No seller should ever be penalized because you feel it took too long when the parcel was shipped in 24-72 hours.

Did the  seller use the shipping method you paid for?  Was your item packaged well?  Were the shipping fees comparable to others in the same market?  You can ask your seller the company they are using to ship.  Most of these have a website that will provide you the cost of shipping to your area.  If they met all of these things then give 5*'s Very Reasonable.

When would you give a seller a Neutral or a Negative?  First you need to contact the Seller and give them the opportunity to correct the error.  I would email a couple of times and give 24-48 hours for them to answer you.  Always check and see if they have a store and did they leave a message saying they were away.  If you still don't hear after a couple of days and no note in the store then open a claim and see if you get a response from them.  If they don't respond to the claim after 7 days I suggest that you escalate the claim.  When Paypal has issued your money back and closed the claim then you could leave Neutral or Negative Feed Back.  Now there is always a chance that something happened and they weren't able to get back to you during this and then they do contact you offering to take care of things and giving you a good reason as to what happened.  Please work with the Seller especially when it was something out of their control.  Don't close your dispute until you have received either the items or your money back.   Always try to work things out and remember things happen that nobody could foresee.

The DSR's score that you give can make a lot of difference to what sellers have to pay for Final Value Fees.  This is a fee Sellers give to Ebay from the total amount of the item that you purchased.  On every item you purchase-we pay to list the item, to sell the item, and then paypal fees.  So any time a seller can earn 5*'s for the DSR's it can be a help to that seller that will be passed onto the buyer as we try to keep costs down.  These scores also help in determining where our items will be listed for you when you use the Best Match.
