When you are looking to buy vintage jewelry, REMEMBER vintage is NOT new, MOST will show some wear, but that is what adds charactor to the piece.
Vintage jewelry comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. Most are inexpensive, and can be worn for many more years. Look for Ebayers that sell nice quality pieces, check feedback, and check their stores~Many Ebayers have stores and most of that jewelry is not shown unless searched.
If you are out and about check out local church sales, consignment shops and garage sales, Make sure you check your piece carefully. Check for loose beads, bad clasps, bent pins, ect. Also check for markings. Just because it isn't marked doesn't mean it is worthless.
When cleaning beaded items, I found it very usefull to clean glass beads with a little windex on a soft cloth~ Painted beads just a soft cloth gently.Rhinestones I have used Avon bubble bath on a soft toothbrush to gently clean the dirt. DO NOT PUSH HARD~ Think about brushing a newborn babies hair, gentle. Alchol works well on most metal but NOT COPPER..that needs copper cleaner.
I hope this helps you in the care of your treasures. If you have any comments or more info please let me know. I am always willing to learn better care of my jewelry. Have a great day and thanks for reading this~
