I purchased a piece of broken cranberry silvercrest Fenton glass bubble vase one time in a box lot for 1.00 that had the whole bottom broken out. I decided it was just to pretty to throw away and set down on my porch one afternoon for about 20 minutes and took my dremel tool and sanded on the bottom  until I could smooth out the jagged edges to make it perfectly round and sold it as a lamp globe.  Of course I described it as such in my description and sold it on ebay for 35.00. Nothing needs to be tossed until you know for a fact it is at its dead end. Be creative. Oh I got  a great feedback as well.
