I have been a collector of autographs longer than I have been an eBay member.  Due to circumstances beyond my control I am now selling many items from my sports memorabilia collection.  I notice some seller offering autographs that are obviously not genuine.  Here are a few things you may look for before placing that bid.

  • View the feedback history, not just the positives and negatives but look at what items were sold.  If the buyer has sold 12 Tiger Woods signed Sports Illustrated magazines over the past month, this could be your first and only clue needed to let you know something is not on the up and up.

  • Dont't be fooled by membership in Autograph Clubs and Associations, go to their website and you will see that anyone can become a member if you pay the registration fees. (UACC $35.00 for US)

  • How was the autograph obtained?  I go to ball games and sports signings in my area and often take pictures with the players.  So I can offer quality sports autographs.  I do not sell autographs of Hollywood movie stars because I do not live there and I do not have access to those people.

  • Return policy ~ I offer a 7 day return policy as standard procedure, but if a buyer is going to have the item authenticated by PSA I will extend that window until the buyer has time to have it authenticated

  • Take the time to read about your buyer, does he have a ME page, some pages are quite elaborate and go in depth as to what the seller has to offer.

These are just a few things that may save you money and aggravation.  No one wants to pay top dollar for an autograph that Joe the Plumber could have signed.  Will you Please be so kind as to check the helpfulness box below.
