What To Look For When Buying A Fender Guitar Speaker
If your looking to buy a replacment speaker for your Fender amp or any amp,and considering Fender labeled speaker's here's a few tips on getting what your looking for
Fender does not make speaker's they make amps. There are number's listed on the back side of the speaker magent. These number's will tell you what company (or brand) who made these speaker's for Fender. The number's on speaker will also tell you the Year , the Month and the day the speaker was made along with the wattage of the speaker. That is what the number's on these type of speaker's mean. You will see one set of the number's that will have 2-3 digit's then a space. This is the code for which company made the speaker's for Fender. Some of the codes listed below.
220-Jensen Speaker's
328-Utah
465-Oxford
137-CTS
67-Eminence
and there is many more but this is a list of most common Fender Speaker Codes.
Ofcourse other things you will want to look for before buying a Fender guitar speaker is any sign of a rip or tare in the cone or any damage to the +and - terminals.Avoid buying speaker's in this shape as it will not be worth the trouble and will not be relieable. If buying on Ebay look in good detail at the speaker's.If there not detailed pictures request some better pics.I personally prefer to email a seller and find out how well they communicate before i bid ,along with checking feedback score and also very important a Return Policy.Fender does use very good quality speakers in almost all of there amps.Maybe excluding cheap $50or$100.00 amps. They sound good, are relieable, and afordable.I have had 2 12's out of a Ultimate Chorus for about 9 years and there still in the same shape as when i bought the amp new.
