If you read my guide on MIS-TINTED paint, you'll know my mother was a house flipper in the 1970s. We did a lot of fixing up of houses and apartments my whole youth... so my tips are really just passing on her genius.
If you're doing a really big paint job, at the end of the day most people would just soak their brushes and rollers in water or turpentine. This leaves them soggy and wet and not really ready to just pick up and start painting the next day.
My mother, brilliant as she was, wrapped her brushes, rollers and even the whole paint pan plastic bags, or Saran wrap and stuck them in the freezer overnight. And its not like we all aren't inundated with plastic bags in our lives.
Yes that's right SHE STUCK THEM IN THE FREEZER over night or till she need them again.
The next day they were fresh and ready to use, like you hadn't even stopped painting in between and it works for oil or water based paints. This also works if you need to take an hour off to go pick up your kids from school, or you need to take a lunch break. So in a pinch the freezer technique is easy and clean, and you don't end up with a soggy brush/roller with diluted paint.
This is an ode to an economizing woman, my mom. A very simple solution.
Blessings, Max Rainet.
