What to do with those USB Ports on the back of your wii

When the Wii was first released, everyone jumped for joy when they realised it had two USB ports on the back. After the initial excitement passed though, we were all left scratching our heads asking what do we do with them?

Well today i've got a few ideas up my sleeve that will give you a bit of cool factor, and i'm not talking about the Wii cooling fans that sound like a Boeing taking off either.

Item #1: A USB Hub

With all the great gadgets I'm going to tell you about, I have no doubt that you're going to want to have more than 2 plugged in at once. If you're going to have a heap of them ,you might even want to look at a powered USB hub. You'll need a powered hub if your devices are sucking a lot of juice.

Item #2 An Amazing USB Lava Lamp

Lava lamps are super cool and have been around forever. Why not add some bling to your gadget and accessorise with a Lava Lamp? There's heaps out there, with new designs like plants in water with bubbles and even LED ones with glitter. There's heaps around on eBay so why not check them out?

Item #3 An External Hard drive

Everyone knows that the inbuilt storage of the Wii isn't as big as the Hulk, so what do you do when you run out of storage space? Grab a USB hard drive, format it as FAT32 in Windows and plug it in to extend your storage experience. One thing here though, if you end up using a USB hub and it's not powered, your hard drive might not work. They tend to suck up a lot of juice so you would need a powered USB hub or just plug it directly into one of the two Wii console ports.

Item #4 USB Cup Warmer

When you're going for hours of Wii gaming, you're going to need to have plenty of energy. If you're anything like me and love a good hit of caffeine while gaming, you've just gotta keep it hot. There's nothing worse than cold coffee so keep it warm by having your cup on this heating plate.

Item #5 USB Desk Fan

With the invention of the Wii, you're no longer sitting on the lounge for hours. So what happens if your up and about, buzzing on coffee and swinging about? You get hot and sweaty. Well that's easily fixed. Just get yourself a USB desk fan and keep cool during your extended gaming sessions. Pure genius!
