What is resveratrol?
Resveratrol (3,4',5', trihydroxystilbene) is a polyphenol, a special chemical that only a few species of plants make, among them the species that gives us grapes and wine, Vitis vinifera. We don't know what resveratrol does for the plant but, luckily for us, it does a lot of good to us, humans. It has strong anti-inflammatory properties, inhibits tumor initiation, promotion and progression, and protects from the damage done by UV-B radiation (photoprotection). It helps with wound healing and it has strong antioxidant activity.
Anti-age effects of resveratrol
It is probably its strong antioxidant activity that is responsible for the effects of resveratrol on aging. One of the theories on aging is that mitochondria, the energy powerhouses in cells, age earlier than the rest of us. Because our bodies cannot function properly without good mitochondria, our bodies, deprived of the energy they need to renew itself, ages and dies. High calorie diets mean that mitochondria work harder and age faster, accelerating the overall aging process.
What would resveratrol do for us? It would trap the free radicals that are formed as a side product during respiration, protecting mitochondria and the rest of the cell from those free radicals that lead to DNA mutations and aging.
Your skin ages fast but you can slow it down!
The skin is exposed to UV, making it age faster than the rest of the body. Resveratrol, added to our Canvas base cream, will help your skin in many ways. If you add to the base cream other antioxidants and actives with complementary activities, you can do more than slow down aging of your skin. You can actually "turn back the clock".
Coenzyme Q10 is a component of the mitochondrial apparatus that will restore mitochondrial function. Other antioxidants: ascorbic acid and other forms of vitamin C, astaxanthin and tocotrienols, grape seed proanthocyanidins, and more.
Look at our amazing array of actives to see what you can do for your skin. Don't wait, aging does not wait either.
If you don't want to make your own cream, get one of our ready made serums and cream. They work!
