What is an homolgated motorcycle exhaust/silencer?
Homologation means that the exhaust meets the legal requirements of sound limit, making it fully legal to be ridden on the streets without taking the risk of getting a penalty from the authorities. Some coutries like European coutries, Japan, Singapore ect. require the homologation while coutries like USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa ect. do not have these sound limits requirements.
A good homologated silencer would have a removable DB killer (sound reducer) that can be removed for track racing use and then put back on the street. It must come with an homologation certificate, and there should be an homologation code that is individual for diffirent models marked on the silencer, usualy on the end cap.
Even with a good homologated performance exhaust you would expect an average of 3% power increase, and a higher increase when the sound restriction is removed or when using a race type version.
This guide is a personal recomendation and before purchasing any exhaust it is recomended that you check your local rules and requirements.
Ride safe!
