I notice that a lot of people have confused the watch chain with the watch fob. A watch fob is a special pocket that is used to carry a watch, or more commonly called a watch pocket. This is something that has been sewn to Levi jeans since before indoor plumbing. A for is also a short chain or ribbon attached to a watch. The most common usage in our language is an object that is attached to the chain which is attacked to the watch itself. There are all sorts of fobs, rlk and bear teeth, rabbits feet, fraternal emblems, small pen knives, etc.. So, if you see a picture of a watch and chain that says in the text that the watch has a fob, that is really not correct.
