What is a Stamping?
When a tool and die mold is struck onto a sheet of brass the resulting design is called a stamping. They are used mostly as components in jewelry design but are also great for decoupage, scapbooking, or used as embellishments for crafts such as doll house design, and candle making as insets. Molds from the late 1800s were used to create most of our pieces.
The technique of stamping produces a very light weight and durable piece with high detail. They can be drilled with a regular drill and small bit or a dress clip, hair bar or pin can be glued to the back of the pieces. (we recommend E6000 by Goop). As a versatile jewelry and crafting component, we have seen these pieces used in many different ways to include home decor, mold making with precious metal clay as molds. Many crafters also use stampings in frame and shadow box design, furniture detailing, curtain swag detailing, and in wall art. The uses are endless, we hear of great new ideas all the time.
