What is a Personal Alarm?
A personal alarm is a very loud decibel alarm that you can carry with you anywhere. Personal alarms are very small and portable, usually the size you can carry in the palm of your hand, place in a pocket, or add to a keychain or neck lanyard. Personal alarms are great for anyone who gets off work after dark, for extra safety when out jogging or hiking (including children), and for everyone who is concerned about non-violent ways of deterring an attacker. Personal alarms are usually set off by either pushing a button or removing a pin from the alarm. These alarms are legal anywhere, and can even be taken with you on an airplance (legal as of this writing, always subject to change). Some of the models also include a flashlight as an extra feature. They come in a variety of models and sizes, such as:
Electronic Pocket Whistle - 120 db whistle sounds when you push a button, can be easily attached to a keychain or neck lanyard
Screecher - Aerosol alarm with "ear-piercing" blast, can be heard up to 1/4 mile away, compact size is convenient for pocket or purse
Personal Alarm with Flashlight - 130 db alarm, uses an activation pin that sets off alarm when wrist strap is pulled away, includes a flashlight, useful for dark buildings, great for real estate agents, night shift employees and even children.
