Garnets are a group of minerals that have been used since the Bronze Age as gemstones and abrasives. Garnets are most often seen in red, but are available in a wide variety of colors spanning the entire spectrum. Garnets are in high demand due, to their fantastic colors and their excellent hardness (7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale), and so are often used in fine jewelry.
