A Fat Quarter (FQ) is a  piece of fabric typically  measuring 18"X22".  There are four Fat Quarters in one yard of fabric when the width of that fabric is at least 44 inches.  Fat Quarters are sometimes sold as individual pieces of fabric. They are also sold in sets of coordinating cotton fabrics by color, manufacturer, style or fabric designer. Fat Quarters are known to be associated with quilting but may be used for many sewing and crafting projects.
