Many people asks: what does lockstitch means?

The easiest way to explain, is the when a sewing machine has a hook, bobbin case, and a bobbin it will make a lockstitch.

  • Straight stitch machines, zig zag machines and walking foot machines will do a lockstitch.

Other very common type of stitch is what we call chainstitch, this type of stitch is made when a machine uses loopers instead of hooks.

  • Overlock machines, serger machines, coverstitch machines, and some button hole machines.
