I SPENT A LOT AND BOUGHT QUALITY AND IT'S TAUGHT ME WHAT IS IMPORTANT IN LIFE.
Two years ago I was living the good life. I was and still am a single mother of 2 great kids. I had a great education in design and finance then everything went wrong. I had plenty of credit, my bills were paid on time in full, my kids went to 8 weeks of overnight camp and I owned two homes. That was before. This is now. I was rear ended 4 times which eventually resulted in my getting fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatique. Then in April 2007, I received a letter saying I was a victim of Identity Theft. Fortunately, my mailman knew something was up when I began receiving packages from jewelers. He was so kind, he made sure that any merchandise addressed to me, was given to me. I promptly contacted the companies (they were not so kind) and I sent everything back. Little did I know that this theif was intercepting my mail so I didn't see the amount of charges on my cards, nor did I see new cards opened in my name. I contacted all my credit card companies but even though they state I am not responsible, all they did was roll the balances onto a new number. I contacted the police, the FTC, Postal Inspector, DA of PA and unfortunately, I got no where. Why? Because I opened the packages to know how much to insure them for. To make a long story short, I am still dealing with this mess but believe it or not, Ebay is helping me get back to where I was financially. I had so many clothes, handbags, funky jewelry that I had never worn. I had art, signed and numbered that I purchased for sample homes. I also had tons of home decor and accessories from samples where the builder had sold the entire development. So, knowing most of my day was spent on the phone, I looked around and figured, why not sell it on Ebay. I had too many clothes with tags on them and my home was full of accessories. So to supplement my dwindling income, I became a seller in January 2008! I realized that someone else will benefit from what I have since most of it is top quality, designer merchandise. I also realized that all the stuff I had purchased didn't make me happier. The people I have met on Ebay have been inspirational to me. I never knew you could develop bonds like I have through e-mail and Ebay. I feel good selling something that was new and costly to someone who couldn't have afforded it. I have gotten incredible positive vibes from people who really care. I used to throw my clothes out if I didn't wear them for a year. Right in the trashcan! Now I know I can make someone happy, and it certainly is helping me financially! I know we all get upset with the fees but what I have gotten out of this is 'almost' priceless. Yes, I would like to pay Ebay less, but until they realize that maybe they will feel better lowering their fees, nothing will happen. I guess the moral of the story is that hey, you can sell anything on Ebay, and for me, a closet busting with clothes and shoes doesn't compare to the relationships I have made and the fact that I have additional money coming in. Hopefully things will improve with the ID Theft and the offset that my bank took away from me will be redeposited. In the meantime I will continue to sell some great things, hopefully making someone happy and at the same time helping me pay my bills.
