When the weather is gray and the grass is turning brown, a house or garden flag not only breaks up the same old landscape, it can be a promise of better things to come.

Autumn is the perfect time to rejoice in the magnificent colors of a fall flag filled with orange and gold pumpkins or a Crow on Pumpkin. And when all is white during the long days of winter, a flag with a seasonal message can signal that you're still celebrating despite the cold.  The Nativity, Snowman, Santa, Hannuka or Poinsettias are all examples of Winter Celebrations.

Late winter can be brightened with beautiful pastel designs for the promise of Easter. Early Spring bursts onto the scene with daffodils, and brightly filled baskets of tulips.  Summer is greeted with kittens and puppies frolicking in the garden or scenes of the beach.

The selection of patterns and themes in house flags is virtually endless.  You can purchase flags to be hung for one special birthday, wedding, new arrival, a salute to the 4th of July, graduation, or to celebrate the season for months to come.

There are a wide variety of pictures and images within each category and hundreds of flags for each Holiday. The majority of house flags are made of polyester or nylon and may be fixed to the flagpole with grommets, tabs, or sleeves.  Some special commemorative flags ar hand sewn from cotton and embroidered. These tend to not be as durable as nylon and should only be hung for the most special occasions or brief period.

Care instructions should be included with your flag purchase on the label.  As a rule of thumb hand washing in mild detergent then rolling in a towel to remove excess water and laying flat to dry,  is preferable to machine washing even if recommended by the manufacturer. This will prolong the life of your flag.

Depending on how your flags design is created- screen printed- hand painted or deep dyeing - you may want to consider how long to leave it hanging especially if the location recieved full sun.

Don't live in a house? Not a problem. Decorative house flags come in garden or mini sizes too. These can be hung on a bracket or garden flag stand and are ideal for the garden, condo, deck, patio, office or apartment.  Don't forget about your vacation home as well.

Not only are colorful house and garden flags a delightful addition to your home, they make GREAT GIFTS, for friends, neighbors and family.
