The Best Home Sound System On The Market

Bose Wave Music System is Worth Every Penny

If you want to have the highest quality sound system in your home, you can't go wrong with Bose's Wave Music System.  With top-notch speakers, a convenient credit-card-sized remote control, and several new features, this system will leave you never wanting to listen to any music not played on a Bose.

I own five of these great machines, and I couldn't be happier with them.  I have three of the older models, no longer available from Bose, and two of the brand new versions, as well as the new CD changer Bose has introduced to accompany the Wave Music System.  On the previous models, the controls are on the top of the machine, which you flip open to insert a CD.  Most of those controls were duplicated on the small remote, so you can operate the system from right next to it or from across the room, which is very helpful.

On the new model, Bose has improved the sound quality even more, and the volume is louder, too.  On the older version, a volume level of fifty corresponds to about thirty on the new machine.  The newest version doesn't have controls on the player.  The employees at the Bose store where I bought mine told me that the updated technology inside no longer leaves room for these on-player controls.  However, you can buy a strip of controls to attach to the front of the player.  These were created with the intention that hotels could purchase and attach these to prevent the tiny remotes from being lost or stolen.  Additional remotes are cheap (about $10.00) and easy to obtain, and Bose offers a large, backlit remote control that runs about $40.00.  Since the controls on top of the player have been eliminated, you can now mount the player under a cabinet.

The new Wave Music System can also play MP3 CDs, a useful improvement.  I like listening to music in my living room that before I could only enjoy in the den on my computer.  If you want, you can set the player to wake you up with the CD track or radio station of your choice.  The time is always shown in green digital numbers across the front, and this display dims to adjust to the surrounding light, making this player ideal for the bedroom, where you don't want a bright screen keeping you awake.

The Wave CD changer is shaped exactly like the Wave Music System, allowing the player to set on top with the feet held securely in notches.  It enables you to insert three more CDs, for a total of four CDs.  The changer comes with a disc you will need to insert into the player to update it and prepare it to work with the changer.  This is easy and takes less than a minute.  You only have to connect two short cords and switch the power cord from the player to the changer.  It's all very simple, and the instructions included in the box are clear and helpful.  The changer loads slightly differently.  You have to push the CD almost entirely into the changer, which makes a bit of noise switching between discs.  The player, on the other hand, grabs the CD as soon as you begin to insert it and slides it smoothly out when ejected.  To switch among CDs, just press the "CD" button on the remote control.

If you're not looking for a CD player, Bose makes a nearly identical system that's only a radio.  You get the same great sound quality and the credit-card-sized remote control.  This version runs about $150.00 cheaper than CD player.  All of the items discussed above come in your choice of two colors, graphite gray or platinum white.

Bose products are not inexpensive.  The Wave Music System costs about $500, and the matching CD changer goes for about $250.  But both are well worth the expense, because nothing else comes close to the Bose quality.  You'll be glad you bought the Bose Wave Music System.
